TYPE OF BROCHURES

A3 to A4 Folded Brochures:

The ever – popular standard size for many brochures. Not too big and easy to mail or store, you can’t go wrong with an A4 brochure. Folded brochures are an essential part of the marketing mix. Rest them on a countertop or hand them out to prospects.

A5 Brochures:

Half the size of an A4, these are a good way to make a mini-book, or pamphlet.

DL Brochures:

There are some popular combinations for the DL format including single pages printed on either one, or both sides, 4 page options or 6 page, tri-fold or gate-fold brochure.

  • A4 to DL Roll Fold Brochure
What a great way to tell your story. As the brochure unfolds, so does your brand. Roll-fold brochures take consumers on a journey, with each new page revealing new messages and new images. This is a great option for brands that want to do more than the same old, same old.
  • A4 to DL Z Fold Brochure
If you want your brand to stand out, so should your marketing. The reason Z-folded brochures are so effective is that they’re unusual enough to be edgy yet familiar enough to be comfortable. People often find them easier to handle and read than the usual roll folded version.
  • A4 to A5 Folded Brochure
The more digital the world gets, the more powerful brochures become. Back in the day, everyone used brochures. Now, not so much. That means they’re standing out like never before. Words on paper have a greater impact than text on screen. Folded brochures are an efficient way to build your brand.
  • DL Half Fold Brochure
DL half folded brochures, or the Double DL as they are sometimes known, are wide and wonderful. Fantastic for businesses who still want a DL finished size but don’t need the coverage of the traditional DL roll folded brochure. They might be compact but they still gives you the option of using photography to your advantage.

Business Cards

WHY DO I NEED BUSINESS CARDS?

Business cards are an integral part of your business networking and will make a lasting impact on your customer when designed correctly – so make sure it’s a good one – you only get one chance at a first impression. It will be referred to time and time again therefore it is important for it to be of high quality for your business details and product/service information.

The current online world of networking doesn’t give you much scope for adding that personalised touch. That is why a professionally printed business card will help you stand out from the crowd and will leave a memorable impression. Business cards are always accessible and they don’t have a downtime so can be referred to no matter where you are.

WHAT DO I PUT ON BUSINESS CARDS?

Consistent branding throughout your business is paramount and it all starts with your business cards. Once you get your brand sorted it will flow on through the rest of your promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, banners, website and social media.

We can assist with the design and content of your card, or if you have your own artwork on file just email it through and we can start the printing process for you.

Ideas of what your business card can display:

  • your business name
  • logo if you have one
  • slogan for your business
  • ‘feel’ of your business
  • service of your business
  • how you can be contacted: phone number, email, website, social media icons (facebook, instagram etc)

WHAT TYPE OF BUSINESS CARD DO I NEED?

Whether its a small quantity of 250 business cards, or 2500+ that you are after, Ink on Paper can help you with your project from start to finish. For quick turnaround time and smaller quantities we would print your cards digitally, and for more specific runs and larger numbers, offset printing would be our preferred choice.

There are so many options of what type of business card to print! The main guide is your budget. For a small budget, printing on a nice quality card with a crisp clear design is enough. For those with more to spend you may want to choose from a variety of assorted finishes to assist in your card standing out from the crowd – choose from a variety of ways:

STOCK – choose from card finishes such as gloss, satin, matt, recycled or textured

DIE CUTTING – for those wanting a shaped card such as round corners or shapes cut out within the card

LAMINATING – great for protecting the ink coverage from scratching while also giving a thicker feel. Gloss or matt laminate provides a unique finish that stands out amongst other business cards

VARNISHING – gives a smooth finish while sealing the paper to help it last longer. With spot UV, you can highlight different parts of your design such as logos, design or text elements

FOLDING – gives your business card a point of difference while providing you with twice the amount of room for your business details and services

FOILING – at the higher end of the budget scale, this process can highlight your logo or text on your card. Popular choices are gold, silver or rose gold amongst other choices

EMBOSSING OR DEBOSSING – embossing creates a raised 3D effect to selected text/logo to create an impact; debossing in reverse creates an indent to selected text/logo to also make it stand out.

So don’t let your budget stop you from getting your business card started. We can guide you to making the right choice for your needs so please talk to the customer service team @ Ink on Paper on 8326 3889.

NOW THAT I HAVE A BUSINESS CARD, WHAT DO I DO WITH IT?

Don’t leave home without them! Take them everywhere with you in your:

  • handbag
  • wallet
  • jacket pocket
  • glove box
  • mobile phone
  • computer bag

Exchange them regularly. If someone gives you their card, give them one of yours. Seek out networking opportunities such as community events, conventions, trade shows, markets, networking evenings where you can connect with others – however be selective on who you hand them out to as they can be wasted away easily.

When communicating in writing or sending parcels, slip your card in with the package you are sending. Seek out businesses within your community who are complimentary to the services you offer and leave your cards there for the taking.

Above all don’t run out of them so if you are getting low make sure you call us @ INK ON PAPER on 8326 3889 to reorder before you run out!

Choosing the best printing effect

WHY USE SPECIAL EFFECTS?

There is a wide range of fresh and exciting special printing effects to experiment with that can really enable your advertising and marketing materials to appear unique and attract attention – from foil stamping and die cutting to embossing and debossing.

Special printing effects are attractive to the eye, and they also prompt people to use their sense of touch. Scientists have proven that tactile stimuli have a deeper connection to the memory than comparable visual or auditory stimuli. By investing in special printing features, you make a longer lasting impression on your potential customers.

  • Die cutting
  • Embossing and debossing
  • Foiling (Foil stamping)
  • Metallic inks
  • Spot UV
  • Varnish
  • Laminate

DIE CUTTING

Die cutting is a special printing effect that uses steel cutting dies to cut specific designs and shapes into your printed materials. Die cuts refers to the areas of the material that are sheared away by the dies blade in a fashion that is similar to a cookie cutter.

Patterns and Shapes
Die cutting creates patterns from the decorative shapes that get cut out. Many times, the cut piece will be incorporated with a larger piece to provide a window-like or frame effect, allowing part of an interior image to peek through. Other times, the main shape of an object is formed by die cutting the paper in a specifically designed manner.
A die cut can be as simple as a slit created to hold a business card to a folder by its corners, round corners on a business card or as intricate as a complex design for a greeting card. With a tantalizing combination of tactile and visual appeal, these special printing effects can get quite creative. They tend to enhance images and text by allowing them to stand out from the background.

Popular Designs
Some of the more common uses for die cutting are door hanger slits, holes, flaps, rounded corners, and pop-ups. We at Ink on Paper have a large variety of dies in stock, but also specially order metal dies for custom orders.

EMBOSSING AND DEBOSSING

Embossing and debossing are related special printing effects that use metal dies, pressure, and heat to transform a paper’s surface. They’re usually used to texturise business cards and to design beautiful invitations, such as those used for weddings.

Embossing
Embossing uses male and female dies to raise graphics and lettering from paper to create a visually enticing three-dimensional effect. Many business owners use this cool printing technique on business cards and brochures, allowing them to stand out from their competitors.

Debossing
Debossing is a similar process, though the male and female dies lower the surface of the paper to create lettering or an image. The lettering is pressed inward through the same basic technique as embossing, with two metal dies meeting on the paper.

FOILING

Foiling or foil stamping is a specialty printing process that uses heat, pressure, metal dies and foil film. The foil comes in rolls in a wide assortment of colours, finishes, and optical effects. Metallic foil is most commonly seen today – particularly gold foil, silver foil, copper foil, and holographic metallic foils – but foil rolls are also available in solid colors in both glossy and matte finishes.

This process can highlight your logo or text on your printed material such as your business card. Popular choices are gold, silver or rose gold amongst other choices.

METALLIC INKS

Metallic inks are a less expensive alternative to foiling, but still create special printing effects that catch the eye. While the results may appear similar, metallic ink is an actual toner used by printers to acquire the same shiny effect.

Metallic ink contains gold or silver flakes, which allow text and graphics to pop, especially when contrasted with dark-colored paper. This printing technique should use the metallic inks sparingly to focus the eye on a special offer or feature, since overuse can overwhelm your potential customers.

SPOT UV

Spot UV coating is applied to matte coating to cure particular areas of flat paper into a slightly glossed section designed to capture visual interest. This area of focus usually contains text, graphics, or images that can be tilted back and forth to create a holographic effect, resulting from reflected light.

VARNISH

Varnish is a liquid shellac that is added to a printed piece of paper to provide it with either a satin, glossy, or dull finish. Similar to a clear top coat of paint, varnish is applied as a final layer of ink over a printed item. It protects the final product from smudges, scratches, and other types of damage, such fingerprint marks. Its crisp effect can enhance readability of an item by reducing glare. It is also applied to photos printed on matte paper in order to make them “pop” and to strengthen them so they last longer.

LAMINATE

Great for protecting the ink coverage from scratching while also giving a thicker feel. Often times, this coating eliminates scratches, scuffs, and tears. It provides either a glossy or a matte finish and provides a unique look that stands.

NOW ALSO AVAILABLE IN SOFT TOUCH FINISH

Our new soft touch laminate is practically a matte finish laminate with a velvety soft feel to it, absorbing all the light rather than reflecting it.
